Japan2k26, Day 1

Good morning world, from Japan.

I’m writing a few lines to update you on the trip. I’ll try to post every day, carving out a few minutes in the evening before going to sleep, hoping that tiredness won’t interrupt this series; otherwise, I’ll post the following morning. Right now it’s Saturday, January 24th, and in Tokyo it’s 11:00 pm. I’m coming off at least 18 hours of travel: I left Perugia, Italy, at 5:00 am to arrive at Rome Fiumicino around 7:30 am. From that point on, the journey, with a layover in Abu Dhabi, lasted until 4:00 am in Italy the following day so almost 24 hours—and as of now I still haven’t closed my eyes hahahaha. The trip was devastating, and thinking about having to do it again on the way back terrifies me.

I don’t really feel that tired, though. After all, I’m here, and for me this is still an incredible dream. I don’t want to miss even a single second of all this. At the moment I’m in the hostel lounge, sipping a strange pseudo alcoholic lemon- lavored drink. It tastes a bit like tonic; I don’t like it very much, so I won’t finish it.

At 6:00 pm we arrived at the hostel after several metro and train rides. We immediately sorted out our bags and took a shower (I’m speaking in the plural because I’m here with two of my brothers), then headed out for dinner in the Shinjuku neighborhood. I truly tasted the real Tokyo tonight.

These posts won’t be very long. I’ll tell you how things went, sometimes in a marginal way and sometimes more specifically, so as not to bore you.

What can I say in conclusion? It’s really all like in manga, anime, and movies. People are kind, quiet, and extremely focused; the streets are clean and there’s no chaos of any kind. The signs are truly lit up like in anime, and everything feels incredibly calm.

Now I’ll say goodbye, because I’m a bit tired and honestly not many things come to mind to write. Forgive me tomorrow I’ll definitely be more specific.

Bye everyone <33
